Exploring Horizons — An Early Learning Center for School-Age Growth

Discover More

Exploring Horizons is the next step in learning for children ages 5 to 12 — a space designed to challenge, support, and inspire school-age kids beyond the classroom. As part of Love and Learning Child Care, this dedicated early learning center blends academic support, creative enrichment, and social-emotional development in a safe, fun, and engaging environment.

Conveniently located at 240 S Beacon Hill Dr in Coalville, Exploring Horizons serves as both an after-school program and seasonal enrichment center. Whether your child joins us after class or during school breaks, they’ll discover new interests, build friendships, and continue growing into confident, curious learners.

What Makes Exploring Horizons Unique

Our school-age program bridges structure with freedom — giving children opportunities to explore, create, and express themselves while staying supported by caring, qualified staff. We focus on whole-child development, encouraging responsibility, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving.

  • Unique play-based, theme-assisted learning

  • Opportunities for experimentation and child-led projects

  • Support for self-regulation and social-emotional development

  • Emphasis on communication, empathy, and problem-solving

  • Community exposure and field trips

  • Transportation from school (where available)

  • Events and experiences that bring families together

Our curriculum is designed not only to prepare children for academic success but to nurture the skills that matter most: confidence, compassion, and curiosity.

Our Program Philosophy

At Exploring Horizons, we continue the child-directed, play-based foundation of Love and Learning, with increased emphasis on self-guided exploration and collaborative learning. Students are given space to choose their own paths — whether they’re diving into a STEM activity, joining a group art project, working with a mentor on homework, or helping design a nature scavenger hunt.

Our approach supports:

Each day is built around the belief that older children still need time and space to play, explore, and be themselves — with guidance, not control.

Outdoor Learning in Every

Exploring Horizons includes access to our outdoor classroom, a dynamic space where movement, creativity, and exploration come to life. Students might design obstacle courses, build nature forts, or take part in group science experiments — all while developing communication, teamwork, and resilience.

We believe the outdoors plays a vital role in healthy child development, which is why we prioritize time outside every day, weather permitting.

Leadership and Mentorship

We partner with North Summit High School to bring in carefully selected student mentors and tutors who help guide, teach, and inspire younger students. These role models bring new energy and talents, providing real-world exposure to collaboration and leadership.
